Here are some RRVT banquet auction items getting attention!

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa, Feb. 10, 2018 -- Two weeks before the Raccoon River Valley Trail Association's 11th annual fundraising banquet at the Marriott Hotel here, let's do a quick review of just a few of the items that will be available in live and silent auctions at the event.

One of the latest donations is "a kegger" from Andy and Amy Walsh at Mickey's Irish Pub, in Waukee -- that's a keg of 120 beers with 100 wings, too!  It's an easy $400 value.

Bicycling and trails advocate Susan Voss, of Des Moines, whom many of you remember as the former insurance commissioner for the State of Iowa, is also a fantastic quilter.  And she is donating a 70-by-90 inch "bicycling" quilt she made herself.  It "easily fits a double or queen bed," she tells us.  She bought $125 worth of fabric to make it, so this beauty is certainly worth $200 -- maybe a lot more!  "Happy to donate," Voss adds.

The Greene County Conservation Board has donated two nights at one of their beautiful cabins at Spring Lake Park northeast of Jefferson -- two bedrooms, a bathroom, kitchenette, sitting room, covered porch, with both heat and air conditioning.  Two nights' rental normally goes for $150.  The park, by the way, has 2.2 miles of asphalt roads ideal for bicycling, rollerbladding and walking. There are several hiking trails, too.  And if you're there on a warm-weather weekend, there's the most classic indoor rollerskating rink in Iowa!

Lake Panorama National Golf Course is offering 18 holes of golf for four -- with carts.

The Trestle Inn bed & breakfast in Woodward offers a one-night stay there, adjacent to the High Trestle Trail.

We'll have passes on auction for the 5th annual BACooN RIDE, coming p on June 16 on the RRVT.  That ride sells out, so this is a good way to grab your tickets early -- while also supporting the RRVT Associatiion.

There will also be passes available for the Pedaler's Jamboree Iowa, being held Aug. 25-26 on the Chichaqua Valley Trail between Bondurant and Baxter.

And for you runners, we'll auction three passes for the "Leprechaun Chase" 10K on March 10 in Des Moines, put on by Pink Gorilla Events.  (That's the same company that hosts "Market to Market Relay Iowa" on the RRVT in May.)

There'll be a "meat bundle" from the Perry Hy-Vee Food Store.

And once again Tyson Fresh Meats of Perry is providing its popular pork loins for auction.

In the earlier general story about the RRVT Association banquet, we told you about two other major items donated for auctions:

--A sharp Momentum iRide "Rocker" fat-tired bike donated by Bike World, a $615 value.

--A matted and framed very-colorful print of artist Eric Piatkowski's fun "Raccoon River Racers," donated by Carl Voss, of Des Moines.

And there will probably be more items to be announced between now and the banquet, so keep your eye on our RRVT communications.

Banquet tickets, at $50 per person, are on sale now.  You can buy them online, reserve whole tables for $500, and get the time schedule and more information about the banquet by clicking right here.

For information about corporate, organizational or private sponsorships of the banquet -- there are still sponsorships available -- contact Mike Wallace at raccoonrivervalleytrailassociation@co.dallas.ia.us.
