February 18, 2017
The 10th annual Raccoon River Valley Trail Association banquet will be held on Saturday, February 18, at the West Des Moines Marriott Hotel. Cocktails, exhibits and auction items will be available in the late afternoon, with a full banquet meal, featured speaker Terry Rich and fundraising auction to follow. Rich, the well-known director of the Iowa Lottery, former communications executive and entrepreneur, is a dedicated newcomer to bicycling in recent years and has become an enthusiastic advocate for our recreational trails. Details and online registration for the banquet are available by clicking here. The banquet is the biggest annual fundraiser for the RRVT Association, the non-profit organization that markets and promotes the 89-mile paved trail in west central Iowa.
Fridays & Saturdays
The Hotel Pattee, which the Raccoon River Valley Trail goes right in front of in the town of Perry, presents live music most Friday and Saturday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m. (The occasional Thursday, too.) The shows are outdoors in Soumas Court if the weather is good, or inside the hotel if it's not. As you've probably heard, trail users are the No. 1 marketing target of Hotel Pattee owners Jay and Denise Hartz, so pedal on in for the music, and also for great dining, desserts and overnight accommodations. You can monitor the musical line-up right here: http://www.hotelpattee.com/music--events.html
