WAUKEE, Iowa, July 2, 2017 -- We've neglected to share the terrific video story that Tommie Clark, news reporter for KCCI-TV in Des Moines, did in mid-June on the progress in building the "Waukee Railroad Pergola -- in the shadow of the rails" at the gateway trailhead of the Raccoon River Valley Trail.
You can watch and listen to that story by clicking here.
Meanwhile, drop by the installation site on the corner of U.S. Highway 6 (Hickman Road) and County Road and N. 10th Street on the west edge of Waukee, and watch the progress. Installation of the glazed ceramic tiles on the pergola's "columns" is expected to begin about July 11. The $1.1 million installation is expected to be completed in late August or early September.
