This is a mighty significant point on the Raccoon River Valley Trail! Do you know where it is? It’s at the northwest corner of Waukee, where the original RRVT takes off to the west, or left in this photo, toward Adel. The trail angling to the right in this photo, is part of the new “North Loop” of the RRVT, heading northwest to Dallas Center. That new 5.5-mile stretch of trail will be officially opened with a ribbon cutting on Saturday, October 15, at 9 a.m. Details on that ceremony will be in a story in the RRVT News and in the “Trail Events” listings available in our RRVT nameplate above. The rest of the 33-mile North Loop is to be completed in 2012, and will extend through the towns of Dallas Center, Minburn, Perry, Dawson and Jamaica to connect with the existing RRVT in Herndon.
