The Bells, who were spending the weekend camping at Spring Lake County Park northeast of Jefferson, decided to take a tandem bicycle ride from the north end of the trail. “We use the other end of this trail all the time from our home in Des Moines, but we haven’t ridden it up here on the north end,” said Dave Bell. “We decided it’d be fun to ride a ways down the trail from Jefferson and see what it’s like.”
