JEFFERSON, Iowa, September 6, 2011 – The fourth “Full Moon Ride” of this summer on the north end of the Raccoon River Valley Trail — Jefferson to Cooper and back — will be held on Sunday, September 11. The Cyclists Of Greene (COG) bike club, based here, has sponsored the rides on full moon nights this summer, and the number of riders has grown with each ride, to more than 25 in August.
For this September ride, cyclists should gather in the early evening at the Jefferson Depot at the trailhead. The ride will depart at 7:30 p.m. to Cooper, with most of that eight-mile ride being completed in the twilight. The ride back to Jefferson will be under the brightness of the full moon.
COG leaders Craig Berry and Diane Wise will provide refreshments at the depot at the end of the ride.
The full moon rides are free. Helmets and bicycle lights are essential. For more information, call Berry at 515-370-1468 or Chuck Offenburger at 515-370-2659.
