Governor Terry Branstad, Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds, Iowa Natural Heritage Foundation President Mark Ackelson, U.S. Congressman Leonard Boswell and other dignitaries gathered Wednesday, April 27, at the west end of the “Art Bridge” on the brand new High Trestle Trail for a ribbon cutting and formal opening. The stone on the left and right sides of the photo are the 42-foot-tall iconic towers that stand at both ends of the bridge, which is a half-mile long and 13 stories high as it crosses the Des Moines River Valley. The 25-mile trail stretches from Ankeny to the north and then west through Sheldahl, Slater and Madrid to Woodward. The fantastic new bridge is located between Woodward and Madrid. You can read more about the project and the opening ceremony in the RRVT News story below.
