Here come the fun, regularly-scheduled events that enhance the Raccoon River Valley Trail experience for all trail users. There are the Sunday afternoon “BRA” gatherings in Adel, steak nights at restaurants in Adel and Redfield, the big Saturday morning breakfasts in Redfield, and don’t forget the goodies at the Redfield Depot. ADEL, Iowa, June 4, 2010 — The fun is cranking back up all along the Raccoon River Valley Trail, including another season of “BRA” events at Kinnick’s Tavern on the courthouse square here.
The second of four BRAs — and let’s be clear here that we are talking about “Bike Rides to Adel” — is set for Sunday, June 13, on a fenced-off portion of the brick street in front of Kinnick’s. There will be food and beverages for sale and live music for free from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event is expected to attract a lot of the riders on the “Tour the Raccoon” ride that the Des Moines Cycle Club is sponsoring on the trail that weekend.
This is the second year that Pete Loew’s, Kinnick’s owner, has offered the Sunday afternoon events.
Other BRAs this year are set for June 20 and July 11. The format will be the same — with food, beverages and live music served up outdoors on the street.
Other regularly-occurring events along the RRVT that are popular with trail users:
– The Wednesday evening steak frys at the Rendezvous Lounge, just west of the business district in Adel, starting at 5 p.m.
– The Tuesday evening “Mexican food nights” and the Thursday evening steak frys at Off Sides Pizza & Pub in Redfield, starting at 5 p.m.
– The full breakfasts every Saturday morning at the American Legion Hall in Redfield, 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.
– Cookies, cold drinks and other snacks are sold at the Redfield Depot on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., by members of the Redfield Development Corp.
