“Trails & Trills” ride on the Raccoon River Valley Trail between Jefferson and Cooper drew its biggest crowd ever, on June 7. Here is a brief story and 23 colorful photos of the event, which had 10 musical groups performing trailside for the cyclists.

COOPER, Iowa, June 19, 2008 – The fourth annual “Trails & Trills” bicycle ride on the Raccoon River Valley Trail on June 7 was a real success, drawing its biggest crowd ever.  There were 104 registered riders who made the 8-mile ride between Jefferson and Cooper, with 10 musical acts performing along the trail as the cyclists passed.  After enjoying lunch served trailside in Cooper by the Committee for a Super Cooper, most of the cyclists pedaled back to Jefferson.  Amazingly, the weather that Saturday morning was spectacular — in a time when Iowa was in the middle of three consecutive weeks of killer tornadoes, heavy rains and then extensive flooding.  For a brief story and 23 colorful photos of all the “Trails & Trills” fun, click on the following link: http://www.offenburger.com/trailstrills08.asp.
