The newest board member of RRVT Association comes with a relic — the first T-shirt produced to promote the trail back in 1989

JEFFERSON, Iowa, May 20, 2007 – The Raccoon River Valley Trail Association added a new member to its board of directors when they met here, but he brought along proof that he has long had an interest in the trail.
Bob German, of Dallas Center, an avid bicyclist who retired in 2000 as president of the Brenton State Bank in that community, was unanimously elected to the board.
Noting that the RRVT Association is now offering logo apparel for sale on this Internet site, German said, “Do you want to see what the first T-shirt looked like?” He then pulled out one of the light blue T-shirts that his bank had sponsored for the RRVT’s dedication day, October 7, 1989. In pink lettering it says on the front, “Tour de Raccoon!”
German also currently serves as chairperson of the Dallas County Conservation Foundation Board and several other boards in Dallas County. He has been bicycling for 30 years and, in 2001, rode across the U.S. He also frequently goes on cycling vacations and joins tours in states around the country.
The rest of the RRVT Association board includes President Carla Offenburger, of Cooper; Secretary Chuck Offenburger, of Cooper; Executive Director Clark Smith, of Des Moines; Jim Miller, Waukee; Bill Wright, Panora; Trisha Easton, Bagley; Jim Rose, Jefferson; Kevin Wilbeck, Rippey; Butch Niebuhr, Perry; Julie Bailey, Adel; Mark Powell, Perry; Cindy Jensen, West Des Moines and Panora; and Conservation Directors Mike Wallace of Dallas County, Joe Hanner of Guthrie County and Dan Towers, of Greene County.
